PATA to SATA Converter Opinion Needed

Hey guys,

I was browsing on eBay for some cables and came across this:

Since my mobo only has a primary IDE controller and supports SATA, I was thinking of getting one of these to free up room for another DVD-ROM drive. I would like your opinion on these converters. Would something like this actually speed up the data transfer to 1.5 Gb/s? Or would I still be stuck at the PATA speeds? I would also like to have your opinion on whether or not I should go for it or not.

Not sure about the transfer rate, it's quite logical youll keep p-ata speeds...
Try it out, but just wait with purchasing a new dvd drive

 

You are not saving any money by going to ebay there.

If you look close at the ebay picture, you'll notice a website. Follow the website and eventually you come across this:

ebay priced at: $20.90 (price also could go up....)

 

Yeah, I was just posting that eBay auction as an example of what I was looking to get. I've already got a website that'll sell me one cheaper. Although, I just decided on getting a SATA drive, since I can clone my current one and use my current drive in another computer.
