It most likely is a heat issue. Happened to me a while back. usually i use the bios to monitor temp however you cannot do that within windows. However, this soft might help.

I have never seen a virus turn off a computer. They want to be on and online to report back about the system. This is almost certainly a heat issue, you should check your fans for lint, and always use the laptop on a hard surface, so it can breath.

does dust make the computer hot? as in can i solve it by opening up the casing and just clean the dust?

Yes dust makes the computer overheat. If you open the case be careful not to disturb anything, if you remove the heatsink you must reapply thermal paste. Remove the fan and carefully inspect everything for large amounts of dust, lint, hair ect. As it is summer time, are you using this laptop in a room with no AC and on your bed? because that could be a problem.

Ive seen viruses turn off computers, they don't appear often.
Also check to make sure the fan is functioning properly, and as said clean out the dust.
