Hello I'm have'n some major slow down problems. I even cleand my computer thinking the dust or heat might be slowing it down. I have ran S&D, Ad-Aware, and a Virus Scan and all looked well. I don't know if this HijackThis log will help or tell anyone anything but I sure would appreciate a look and an idea of what to try next. Thanks....

    OS: WinXP

    256 MB RAM
(I know its not fast to begin with but it just recently running REALLY slow)

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please do not post any logs inline with messages and you must follow standard cleaning procedures before posting HJT logs. HJT is the last step not the first. It is not a comprehensive malware detection tool.

You problems may not even be malware! When did you install McAfee and when did your problems start?

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

Yes! Your problems are not malware. It is more than likely due to what you are running (especially McAfee) and the speed of your PC and the limited amount of RAM.

Did you purchase McAfee or is it a trial?
Did you install McAfee or upgrade it recently?
When did you upgrade to Win XP SP2 and also to IE version 7?
When did you problems begin relative to the above?
What size is your harddisk? How much free space on the harddisk? When is the last time you defragged it?

It's a Full Version from my ISP provider. (Comcast Cable)

I've had it for over 6 months and it updates its self often.

I've had SP2 installed for well over a year and installed IE 7 about 3 - 4 weeks ago.

The problem begin about 3 days ago. The last and most recent program I installed was a game called FlyFF. The game isn't the slow down. (I expected it to be slow) It's more my OS rebooting time is insane and randomly it won't responde until 30secs or so and all actions I try are carried out all at once (ie Moveing/Closing Window, opening/moving a file, and so on)

My harddisk is 74.5GB total and 19.3GB free. I defragmented 3 days ago. Right after it started slowing down like this.

Try uninstalling all of the McAfee stuff and I would be willing to bet you see a tremendous change! Just take a look at your HJT log yourself and observe all the stuff that McAfee is loading. This is slowing down your startup and also impacting overall PC performance. McAfee (like Norton) are noted resource hogs especially when you install their full security suites like this.

You are not showing any signs of malware in your logs. We could spend time digging deeper if you like but I don't believe will will find malware at the heart of your problems.

Great! Now work your way thru the below to get some protection back. The procedure includes free antivirus, antispyware, and free firewalls to use. They are are very effective and they are less resource hungry than McAfee. You will see a change in performance from having no protection, but this is a necessary trade of. You should however not see it perform as bad as when all the McAfee software was running.

    Work thru the below link:
