PC won't complete Panda Active Scan

My PC has been slowing down recently, and even though ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite is not showing any major problems, I suspect some sort of Malware is crippling it.

I started in the Read & Run me first thread, and made it all the way down to the Panda Active Scan process. Initially I could not get it to run in Safe Mode with Networking at all. So I went into normal mode to run it, and it installed the necessary Active X controls, and I began the scan on the local disks and went to bed. Overnight the computer rebooted itself and was sitting at the log-in screen. So I booted back into Safe Mode with Networking and started the Panda scan again. This time it starting running, and it began finding some spyware items, then after a few minutes the IE window Panda was running in just closed and I was left at the desktop.

What steps should I take next? I didn't want to just start posting my log files and running Hijackthis until I knew what would be most helpful at this point.

    Thanks.

Finish all the steps that you can in the Read and Run First ...then post the logs.:)

Okay, took me a whole extra day, but here are the attachments, with the exception of the Panda Active which would not complete.

    Find and delete:
    C:\12.tmp
    C:\BF.tmp

    Use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9

    MarketResearch

Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

You may wish to use a Startup Manager

I'm not seeing malware ....if your issue is primarily a speed concern, you may wish to post in the software section.
BigFix is a resource hog...you may wish to uninstall it.
What are you using as an anti-virus program?

I deleted everything except for MarketResearch. I could not find it in the Add/Remove Programs screen. :yum

I deleted BigFix too, I don't even know what it is or how it got on my computer.

I am using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite for firewall, virus protection, spyware protection, anti-spam, etc., etc..

The problem I'm having with my PC isn't really speed. Once Windows is logged in and loaded, it doesn't run too bad. But for instance, if I turn it on, and don't log right in and it goes to the default log-in screensaver, when I come back to log in, I can see the mouse cursor moving, but I can't click on my Account name and log-in without turning the computer off by holding in the power button and rebooting again. And my account now takes FOREVER to boot up, probably a good 5 to 6 minutes, where until recently it was pretty quick.

You are not showing any signs of malware.....those issues are more than likely a software problem. I would suggest you post in the software section.

You might want to remove one or the other of the two anti-spyware programs you have running ....ZoneAlarm suite and AOL.....

AOL? I'm not aware of having anything from AOL on my system. I just looked in the Add/Remove programs list and don't see anything from AOL. And in Explorer I can't find any AOL stuff. Could it be hidden on my system somewhere?

You may also wish to delete your account and re-create it....as I said, you aren't showing signs of malware.
