Pci Xpress x 16 settings???

Good morning to all , here is my prob, have a Asus P5GD2-basic Mobo, running w/ ATI Radeon X600 pro video card, this morning while adjusting screen resolutions i clicked on the "options" tab, then "details" and its showing this:
Bus type: PCI Express x 16
current Bus Setting: PCI Express
question: how do I switch settings to PCI Express x 16???
any help & suggestions will be appreciated.

isnt PCI-E automatically x16 ?

 

The mobo is auto set to 16x,If your board is sli and you run two nvidia's in sli it auto drops down to x8,which is fast enough for all current video cards anyway.

If your still unsure run sandra available here at MG check bus properties,this will give you your current pci-e bus speed or run 3dmark 2003 and compare the score for performance differences.

 

well looking at sandra and the only diff btween the pci x bus that holds my network card and the pci x,(x16) that holds the vid card is the "width" they're both running at 2.5gb/s.
