   Mt friend transferred pictures from Windows Vista to a new computer with Windows 8 (Now 8.1). Under Vista the folder showed icons of each picture but under Win 8 each just show a general icon. Is there any way to get the picture icons under Win 8?

   Make sure in Folder Options in the Control Panel, that "Always show Icons, never thumbnails" is not checked.

   As well as brownizs's post above if the actual pictures don't show very well, in Win8.1 just set the View tab or right click in the folder and choose View and set to Large or Extra Large icons and hopefully that's what you are after, may need to do this for any folders with Pictures in it.
