    Hmmm....
My experience is that DivX comes bundled with spyware. Yuck. Although, I would assume Yargwel knows better. I haven't tried his link to confirm my suspicion.

Reason: I MUCH prefer VLC Media Player. http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-2194_4-10410655.html?tag=lst-0-1
I have NEVER had to download ANY codecs. Its played any filetype I've come across flawlessly. It's free, its lightweight, opensource, yadda yadda....

It'll do the job for you.

Oh, my mistake. I've always used the free bundle as well, and I've always known it to come with ADware... Gator IIRC... although, it has been quite some time since I've been bothered with it. VLC eliminates the need.

Light Alloy Player could help. It links subtitles up automatically if they are located at the same directory as corresponding video file.
