power plans not displaying

Win 7 System

Recently, I just started receiving the following message when I wanted to change my power settings. This has not been an issue in the past. I have not downloaded or installed anything recently.

"Your power plan information isn't available"

After running malware bytes, rebooting and running other programs... I believe I have a clean. I also ran scandisc at startup. However, when trying to run sfc /scannow as administrator, it would not complete. Also tried in safe mode.

Another day... another problem.
Have a look at my second reply to your question re: Windows Update.

 

Problem resolved by restoring windows to original factory settings.
