Power requirements for SLI

I'm toying with the idea of adding a 2nd GTX260 to my rig. I've been researching PSUs (obviously my current Antec EA650 isn't going to do it) and I've seen lots of varying info: two GTX295s on a 850w; NVidia says two GTX260s will run on a 750w (depending on brand); Corsair recommends a 950/1000w unit. If two GTX295s with an Intel Q9550 run stable on a 850w, then my rig should be OK on the same 850w, no? I'm inclined towards something in the 900-1000w range (a quality make of course, no $80 1000w unit thank you!), but if I can use a 750w and be 100% stable, then I'd be happy to save the money! Current specs on an Antec EA650:
    Phenom2 X4 955 @ 3.2ghz stock
    3 SATA HDDs
    2 DVDRW drives
    GTX260 c216 factory OC
    2 DDR2-800 sticks, 2gb each (4gb total)
    Floppy Drive (don't laugh LOL)
    Media Reader
Misc stuff: 4 fans, light kit
    Asus M4N72-E motherboard
I plan on adding another 2x2gb DDR2 memory fairly soon, probably before the SLI upgrade, if I ever do the SLI upgrade. I'm finding so much 'conflicting' info out there, and it's surprisingly hard to find something concrete. The NVidia SLI site varies from 750w up to over 1200w. Crazy.

    Any input is appreciated. :-D

BTW- the 750w unit listed by the NVidia site is the Antec Truepower New 750, and the 'Blue' variety which is identical except it has a blue LED lighting the fan. ;)

Whatever you get, make sure it is on the good list: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=208143

I am sure I have no need to lecture to a Major Geek on the importance of a good quality PSU.
BTW, I would go for a 1000W, just to give more wiggle room for future upgrades.

    Here's the PSUs I'm considering:
    Corsair 950TX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139013
    ABS DB1000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817814017
    CoolerMaster SilentPro 1000w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171049
    SilverStone ST1000-P http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256057
    Zalman ZM1000-HP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817379009
All of the above units have a strong single 12v rail except the Zalman which has 6 with 4 @ 18a, and 2 @ 28a. I've been checking online reviews on the above units, but I can't seem to find much info about the ABS unit. If anyone knows of a review for that unit that features more info than someone plugging in a multimeter to the PSU while running same apps, I'd appreciate it if it could be posted. Too many reviews are fairly weak and simply report on the looks of the unit, the cables, and the voltage hi/low when under load/idle. Good reviews should include ripple, efficiency info, temp info, etc. The PSU reviews at http://www.jonnyguru.com/index.php are the standard by which I judge all other PSU reviews.....
    ;)

I would highly suggest you get a PSU with a single 12+ rail.

I think the corsair one is good.

Steer clear of the ABS, otherwise you should be good.

I would also recommend the corsair out of that list.

:-D Yup.... I've been leaning towards the Corsair too, and it's cheaper than all the other units I listed. But, like I said, this is all 'fantasy land' right now. I figure the 2nd GTX260 and the PSU will run about $360US, and I simply don't have that kind of dough at the moment. If someone out there is thinking of buying good ol' dlb some Christmas gifts.....

    LOL roflmao LOL roflmao

(BTW- why "steer clear of the ABS"? what have you heard/read?)
