Hi,when i need to partition my new slave hard drive,i`m not sure to use a"primary" or "extended" partition.
I basically want to "ghost' all info from my master hard drive to the new slave.I have a new HP pavillion with windows xp.
I hope this new computer picks up the correct bios info for the new slave automatically.
    Thanks for any information

If you want to boot from the new HDD, then you need to make a primary partition.
If you merely want to use the new HDD as storage, then extended partition with logical partitions is probably a good choice.
