Printer Hell

Can anyone tell me why my Deskjet 845c shows on HP's site as an 895? HP has a link you can click on that will auto test your printer and it is coming back 895. I cant get any of the drivers to work off the 845c disc that came with the printer. So I downloaded the 895 dirvers and they load just fine, but I get an error message saying that it coudlnt "add new printer" and when I go into "system" it is showing 895 as a USB connection. BTW when I plugged in the printer, the USB read it as an 845c. HELP!!!

helps to let us know what OS you're using so I just took a guess.

 

win98 and I have already been to HP about 100x's. I have downloaded their "latest" drivers and they are still not working.
