I have an epson stylus CX6400 that I am trying to get printing. It is about 4 years old and the last time it was used was in sept of last year. I reinstalled the drivers and all the software that came with it. The ink levels are full. Yet the pages keep coming out blank. I am not getting any error messages of any kind. It seems like it should be working but isn't. It is hooked up to a dell runing xp. Any ideas on what to check? I suspect I am overlooking something simple.

there should be a clean print head option in the printer properties.

Are you sure that you removed the tape from the head of the cartridges? There have been times that people install the ink cartridges, and forgot to remove the cover tape off of the heads.

No even the test page comes out blank. And yes the tape has been removed. The cartridges are new as well.

this support group is an excellent sight for info on all epson printers.
get in touch with Art Entlich and he will e-mail a free cleaning manual to you. Read it before doing anything. Should take care of your problem. If the cx6400 uses dye based inks windex will unclog dried ink on the heads and park pads. hope this helps.

Well I did run the clean option 4 times and now it will print some but it comes out pink and it is blurry. I really just want to print black text. The cartridges are all new.

I have had this problem in the past... Printer sat around for several months with no use... had to manually remove and physically clean the ink cartridges... works like a champ now

rubbing alcohol on a lint free rag on the ink cartridge will help draw the ink out.Just make sure the rubbing alcohol evaporates before you install it again

I used rubbing alcohol and q-tips...
