Problem installing new video card.

I just got a new video card and when I try to install it, I get no video.

I tried it 1st with the onboard hooked up and then with the video card hooked up and no picture.

Only when I remove the video card, I get a video image from the onboard.

This is my 1st time with this type of upgrade, so I'm probably missing something obvious.

Once I get through this, I have to install my tv tuner, but that's a project for another day.

 

What video card is it?

It is an Asus EN8400GS Silent.

 

That's a pretty low end card so PSU probably isn't the issue.

You sure you plugged your monitor into the video card and not onboard?

What is the model of your pc or motherboard.

 

I kind of figured that was the next question, so here's what I have.

You can set the video preference in the BIOS to go to the PCIe slot first if you want to try that. Set that, shut down, reinstall vid card and see if you get video. Usually most boards will auto detect a vid card is installed, but you never know.

Have a EN8400GS sitting around now but it worked fine in wife's study PC.
