    Hi there,
    I,ve a problem w/new Java5, when playing games on Yahoo .
Can hardly read names, takes lots of space and the “board” ( chess) , part of the bottom is is hidden behind the task bar.
It was ok before I formatted the hard drive, now w/new XP Pro. program I’ve this problems.
Is there a fix for it or can I get old java program so I can solve this problem?

Maybe this will help? I am going through problems with Java 1.5. Things were OK with 1.4.2 -- and then when I upgraded to Java 1.5 last week, all hell broke loose (for me, anyway...)

    1. UN-install all your Java stuff... there are many other posts here about all the things to try doing, to uninstall Java...

    2. Download JVM 1.4.2 here:

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

    3. Install it.

    4. Test it.

    5. Post results here?

    J2SE v 1.4.2_08

JRE includes the JVM technology The J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

allows end-users to run Java applications.

    Check it out here:

    BULLETIN!

You do NOT need to remove earlier versions of Sun Java!!!

That's what I just learned from the java.com website...

    http://java.com/en/download/faq/5000070400.xml

You may want to remove Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, however:

    Test JRE Installation:

To test that the JRE is installed, enabled and working properly on your computer, run this test applet:

    http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

If you can see the dancing Duke animated image in the applet above, then the JRE is functioning correctly.

    Re: Problem w/Java5

Problem: Trying to print shipping labels via www.USPS.com fails.

    Java applet will not load.

    OS: Windows 2000 Professional

    Browser: Internet Explorer 6

    ===

    Results:

The JRE 1.5.0_02 does not work.

    The JRE 1.4.2_08 works.

Problem now resolved by downgrading JVM to 1.4.2.
