problem with "found new hardware"

Hope im posting this in the right place.

I have a problem on start up.

I get a pop up saying " found new hardware ATWPKT2 "

but I havent installed any new hardware and when I set it to instal it of course it cannot find anything .

so can anyone help me find out why this is happening or at least turn it off so it doesnt look for it every time I turn the computer on ?

Do you have AOL or sygate?

 

im sorry im not that up on computers .I havent heard of sygate. I used to use AOL , I use wanadoo now but AOL is still on here I think.

 

ATWPKT2.sys is an aol file.So I think it is some kind of virtual driver or network conection manager.Go to your device manager:right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager and see what is there?You can uninstall the old aol from the add/remove program if you dont need them.

 

yes ATWPKT2. is in there under 'other devices' so I can just delete it from there?

 

Uninstall aol fro add/remove,that way you can be sure.

Unistalled aol from add/remove but for some reason it was still looking for the file so I deleted it from Device manager and now its gone .
