Problem with joining w2k domain on a computer running wxp sp2

Hello,

I hope this issue wasn't mentioned too many times...
we got a w2k domain with a single server running active directory.
we got a new laptop and installed it with wxp and service pack 2. when trying to make it join the domain (in system properties) it gives us a no domain found message.
the computer gets its ip automnatically, and other new copmuters without sp2 seem to connect to it alright.

Mkae sure that the IP address is the same subnet as the domain controller.
Also make sure you are not misspelling or being incase sensitive about anything. In other words, the domain has to be EXACTLY the same as the way the domain is spelled, caps and all on the controller.
To be sure, compare your settings to that of another XP system.

 

That computer gets its address automatically from the server's DHCP.
it gives me the following message when I try to add it to the domain :
"The following domain controllers were identified by the query:"
and shows me the domain controller's name.
and then "domain controllers registered in DNS are not registered or not running".
when I run nslookup in all of the computers there it tells:
"*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.1.2: Non-existent domain

Default Server: " and then shows me the some server outside the NAT.

the DNS service is running and seems fine, and the problem only occur at that one computer.
