Problem with Mint installation.

Just tried to install Linux Mint 10 (Julia) onto the Compaq machine I spoke of in this thread.

Got as far as the main screen on the live CD.
Clicked on Install and it would go no further.
Message about pwuid not found.
Wondering if that same problem was what kept me from doing anything to the 120GB HD in the other thread?
Maybe some sort of Admin password in memory blocking it?

 

Apparently that's a bug in Ubuntu (Mint is an Ubuntu derivative)

I don't think it has anything to do with your hard drive.
I was reading the bugtraq and it affects all different models of computers.

 

There is a Linux Mint Debian Edition in the wild also. I downloaded and then found it is 64bit.
