Problem With Run And Read Me

I have used the Run and Read Me instructions for detecting malware. I have two problems with the Run and Read Me procedure, and would gratefully appreciate advice on solving them if solving them is possible.

As per the instructions I ran Mawarebytes Anti-Malware but it has not generated a scan log for the date and time in question only a protection log; therefore, I cannot submit a Mawarebytes Anti-Malware scan log. I can, however, report that MalwareBytes detected zero (0) threats. RogueKiller has detected three threats and so I do want to submit all the different scan logs to get my PC cleaned.

The second problem I have encountered is with HitmanPro. The Windows Command Processor window says as its latest state of progress, "ERROR: Error accessing the registry". User Account Control (UAC) keeps coming up and asking me to allow this app to make changes to this device. I keep clicking yes but the UAC comes up over and over again. I have been doing it for half an hour. I cannot believe that is normal and believe HitmanPro is encountering a problem.

I have not disabled UAC because the instructions for Windows 10 (my version) say not to disable UAC.

Please advise what I need to do to solve these problems.

You have to follow the instructions to save a text log file.

Try using Run As Administrator as per the instructions for running Hitman Pro.

I did follow the instructions. But, no file was there as per the instructions.

I did Run As Administrator as per the instructions.

I sought help not because I cannot read instructions but because the two items in question did not work as per the instructions and I do not know how to solve those two problems.

Is the Windows 10 user account that you are using a member of the administrator group or is it a restricted user account?

If you were actually able to right click on the Hitman program and select Run As Administrator, it should elevate the permissions to admin level and you should not be getting those errors about accessing the registry.

Did you try running MGtools.exe? Again you must use Run As Administrator. Do you get errors trying to run it too?

Please attach the log from RogueKiller.

My user account is the Administrator account. I never have the account set to restricted user account. I always have it set to Administrator privileges. Even if I did not I would be reminded because if I right click on something in the two other accounts on the machine, both of which are set to restricted user accounts, it asks me for the administrator's password.

I was able to right click the Hitman programme. No I did not run the MGtools.exe. Once I encountered the problem with Hitman I decided to seek advice before proceeding. My suspicions were more that Windows 10 was not working properly or that UAC should have been turned off even though the instructions say it unnecessary for Windows 10 rather than any malware preventing it.

I cannot attach the RogueKiller log. It was a while before my thread was answered. As requested by the forum's rules I did not repeat the request or push for it to be answered. I thought, in the end, no one would answer. Consequently, I went elsewhere for a solution and have upgraded Windows 10 and so all the logs have gone.
