Problem with VOPT defragger

    I downloaded VOPT defragger (latest version) from this site, installed and ran it on my laptop: computer froze, no response - not even ctrl+d - hung for 2 hours
    had to hit the power button - would not boot up again - missing or corrupt
    system32\config
    am trying to run recovery as the repair option no longer comes up
    no luck so far - anyone have any ideas or help to offer?
