    Hi

Not seen that one before as I dont lock items to the taskbar and didnt know MSN Messenger allowed itsself automatically to be a Taskbar lockable item, but right click the Start orb and choose Properties, then click the Toolbars tab and untick Messenger is listed.

Your friend doesnt use Messenger Plus! do they?

If you right click those icons do you get any menus, if so what do they list as options?

Hmm. It's hard for me to explain it in english, but I'll to try simplify it so I can explain more detailed. When you open 3 programs, they make 3 "bubbles" in the taskbar. What seems to be the problems is when when my friend opens a program like MSN is that the bubbles appear, instead of to the left next to the orb, to the right and she has to use the arrows as seen in the picture to see the bubbles for the different programs.

This is probably a setting that she has changed (she has only the basic computer knowledge that's needed unless you work directly with computers) and I have no idea which. I also use XP, so it's hard for me to try figuring it out on my own.

I don't know if this was what you were talking about, Halo?

Oh, in case you're wondering the language in the picture is Norwegian ;)

    Right click on the taskbar>Properties

Uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" and then you can move (click & drag) and expand the borders of that section of the taskbar. This will allow larger and more readable buttons and should remove the up/down arrows (since you have plenty of taskbar space). Once you run out of taskbar space the arrows will appear.

Check "Group similar taskbar buttons" if you want similar catagorized buttons to be grouped under one button. This can be useful if you are running out of taskbar space.

Hit Apply/Ok button to save settings.

Seems like you are missing the problem. Look at the picture I attach to this post. Ring 1 is where the "bubbles" SHOULD have appeared. Ring 2 is where they appear. What she wants to know is how she gets the bubbles to appear at ring 1, and I don't know. I also add a picture of my own taskbar with a ring around where she wants the bubbles to appear.

Hi Cellon, I think elbiatcho1 has it right. I experimented on XP and the taskbar works the same way. [the bubbles are officially Taskbar Buttons]

Pics are Locked taskbar--Unlocked Taskbar--Resize arrows

Your friend should unlock the taskbar which will show double row of vertical dots which can be grabbed to resize the taskbar button area.
Mouse to the double row of vertical dots and drag over to the left as close to the Quick Launch bar as possible to give maximum space..
    Then lock the taskbar.

Oh never mind, she figured it out herself. But thanks anyways.
