Problematic Realtek High Definition Audio Update

This is the update I get with Windows Update. When I upgrade my sound, it gives me lots of functionality and lets me play certain games which require that driver. However, it creates some weird CPU lag that is unbearable. With Winamp, sometimes I'll be playing music and if I'm loading a page, Winamp will slow down and lag mid-song. Also, I noticed that when I send an IM on AIM, if I attempt to start typing again immediately after hitting enter/sending the IM, it skips the first letter of what I am typing as if it's lagging.

How can I prevent this?

 

Try using the drivers direct from the motherboard manufacturer, as I assume this is onboard sound.
