Problems after spyware and virus scan

I'm not sure if something went wrong after the Ad-Aware scan or the AVG scan but not somethings won't open up on my sisters computer.

I keep getting an error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

After I click OK, I get "The item you selected is unavailable. It might have been moved, renamed, or removed..." then asks me if I want to remove it from list.

The first message even comes up when I double-clicked on the Java setup file that I downloaded a few days. But when I click OK on this I don't get the item is unavailable message.

The computer was infested with a whole bunch of things from coolwebsearch to trojans and something called downloader.tibs. I wanted to access a few things before I format the hard drive and this is keeping me from it.

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

• CounterSpy
• AVG Antispyware Log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
• Bitdefender - from step 6
• Panda Scan - from step 6
• runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
• newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
