I just installed my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video card, and my games seem to run the same if not a little worse then before. I had a Geforce3 Ti500. My computer is a P4 1.5, with 512 megs of ram and windows xp. Has anyone else had problems with this card or know how to tweak it? I was wondering if there could be a conflict with my AGP drivers. I've never updated them, because I can't find the right drivers on Intel's sight. My computer says the driver is: Intel(R) 82845 prosessor to AGP controller. On intel's site they only have an update for 82845G. I downloaded those drivers and tried to update, but it didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What have you tried so far? Do you have the newest drivers for the card?

Yes, I do have the newest drivers for the card. I actually have a version that isn't out yet. When I called tech support the guy told me to go to a special web address and download the drivers that were there. The driver version is 6.13.10.6193. How importatnt are the refresh rate fixes that are out there? Would that help anything? I've heard that there are problems in WinXP where a game will run at 60hz instead of at what you have the monitor set to like 85hz.

have you used Detonator Destroyer to completely eliminate ALL things to do with your previous NVidia GF3 Ti500?

    get it here

Yes, I did download Detonator Destroyer, but I wasn't able to use it because it said it is not yet compatible with Windows XP.
Are there any other programs out there that will get rid of any detonator files?

Ya, ATI's and Nvidia's drivers don't get along at all. I'd format your computer.

BTW, with a p4 1.4 I'd be very surprised if you saw a HUGE difference to begin with. I mean, obviously you're going to see a difference (perhaps after format) but you need a little more power behind that card.

I agree. CPU scale has a LOT to do with how well individual parts perform :\ Get something with a faster FSB and watch it rip :D

i used to have an nvidia gforce 4 mx 440 and i just got the radeon 9700 pro about a month ago, it seems to work extremely well, my brother said that he deleated all my nvidia associated files but in the process messed something up, so then my friend, who is a computer nerd for the fbi had to come over and fix it but now IT ROCKS!!

    a thought

You didn't, by chance, go to your advanced props for the card and turn the anti-aliasing way up, did you?

I recently upgraded to this card and have been very happy with it. It made games that I didn't really expect to perform better run faster and smoother. I actually bumped AA up to 2x and it still runs well... but I suspect going too far would really hinder the performance incredibly.

The default is for this to be set to "let application decide..." So I suppose it's doubtful, but worth a mention, I suppose.

I was reading a recent article that stated that ATI has now admitted that there's a bug with some AGP 8X mobos. That when running in 8X the system locks up and won't reboot...This better not happen to me when I upgrade my mobo...I'll be one ticked-off person. The article was saying that ATI was blaming MS for the bug....All I know is ATI better correct this if it proves to be correct, this better not happen to me because I'll be getting my $400 bucks back if it does...warranty or no warranty!:(

I already went into the bios and changed the setting from 8X to 4X. After an all night session of gaming, the system started giving symptoms of overheating and finally locked up. Changing to 4X seems to have solved the problem.... but I haven't spent all night gaming since then, either...
