Hi Guys, I have tried to run the downloads as per instructions in your excellent Malware Removal Guide Sticky with varied success. Logs attached here.

RogueKiller kept hanging while 'Searching for Updates' (left it run for 45minutes), MBAM scan successful, no threats found, TDSS hanging at 40%Initialization, HitmanPro finally worked, then I tried TDSS killer again and it ran successfully, no threats found. Unfortunately, we've got storms here again and the power keeps tripping, so I've been a bit frazzled with constantly re-firing up the pc's and remembering where I got to, reading the instructions on one pc and applying them to the other. And now I discover I've done a bad thing - after TDSS worked, I tried and got RogueKiller to run and was so pleased that I deleted the 5 PUM files instead of just saving the report - please don't shoot me!

Screenshot png of the files is attached i think they are in the RK quarantine folder on the desktop. I can't see where the TDSS log got saved.

Okay, now to the recent history and problems I'm experiencing: I downloaded and installed Sketchup 2013 a few weeks ago, checked it with Avast, IobitMF and MBAM prior to install. Glary Utilities update to v4 around the same time. Then I started to notice a Glary Utilities dialog box appearing after startup, usually with egg timer cursor on rollover. Reboot usually cleared this. I've now uninstalled GU v4 and left the earlier version in place. In the last week, bootup in Normal mode is very slow; Welcom Screen for 30 secs, followed by blank desktop gradually populated with icons after about 17secs, then it proceeds to reboot itself after a few seconds or a few minutes. This process seems to be an endless cycle. If I have a few minutes to try to open software, it either does not appear at all (eg IobitMF) or dialog box opens with egg timer on rollover, which just hangs. Ctrl/Alt/Del will not open task Manager and egg timer appears on rollover of quick launch icons and the taskbar.

I now fire up in Safe mode but yesterday the Firefox dialog box is showing a new clear start page as if I'd just installed it, with no history and no bookmarks. Thunderbird is similar, asking if I want to set up a new email account. It should be syncing with the other networked pc (which is functioning in safe mode with all emails intact, fingers crossed, touch wood). I hope to sort that one with you later on another post.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice - you guys do such a great job of helping so many people.

    Hi there. :)

I am not seeing any malware in those logs.
You have Zone Alarm Security installed. Does it include antivirus or is it only a firewall?

You should also not be using msconfig to control start ups. You should use third party software such as Start Up CPL.

Hi Kestrel13! Its good that you can' see any malware in the logs - thanks for that, but I am now confused as to what can be causing this behaviour.

Yes, the ZoneAlarm is just a firewall, with Avast for the Antivirus.

Re 'You should also not be using msconfig to control start ups.' Can you explain, please - I have tried to limit startups to essential programs to make things quicker and have used the interfaces within CCleaner and Glary Utilities for this. Are these not as good as Start Up CPL in performing these adjustments? Will this affect the pc performance adversely? and how would I best go about re-setting them with Start Up CPL?

    Thanks for your advice, Andybard954

Yes, you should open up MSCONFIG and put the machine back into NORMAL start up. Any other mode is primarily used for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.

Here is a link to StartUp CPL that you can use to control start up's.

You can post about any outstanding issues in the software forum. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
