    Hi,
I've followed the recommended steps but am still infected
    with something called Backdoor.Pcclient.b
My Norton Antivirus is detecting and deleting it, but it comes back
when I try to launch a game on my PC with the game disc in the
drive. The drive seems to freeze. Would greatly appreciate any help
    Im running Windows Xp.
    Many thanks

    Hi

If you have followed the steps in the guide in the ones below, then please attach the requested 5 logs, then we can go from their :)

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Your logs are clean! Please attach a log from Norton that shows exactly what and where it is detecting a problem. pcclient is also associated with Trend Micro's PC-Cillin antivirus package. Did you use this at one time?

Is the game disk you are having a problem with an original disk from the manufacturer or is it a copy? If a copy, perhaps that is where you problem lies and it cannot be fixed since the CD is read-only.

    Hi
PC seems completely clean! When I wan running the various scans & utilities, I did get some massages from Norton that it was doing battle with something
trying to write itself into the registry. The game I was using is an original and sems to run fine now with no problems with the drive the disc is running in.
Im not sure how to get a report out of Norton to send it so you can have a look. I looked in the Norton quarantine section, but its clean as a whistle.
If you have any other suggestion, I'd be grateful to hear them. Otherwise, thank you for all your help, and hopefully, thats an end to the problem
    Best Regards
    Fluticus

If you are not having any problems than I don't need a log since there would not be anything to look at! ;)
