    i have an old packard bell imedia system, its pitiful hardware reads like this;

    P4 1.5 GHz
    320MB SD-RAM
    80GB HD
    Pioneer DVD Rom
brand new LG Super Multi Drive.

im looking to give it an overhaul, new processor, memory and hard drive.
at least 2.8GHz, 512MB SD-RAM, 200GB HD... can anyone gimme some ideas of the best brands to look out for and the cheapest/most reliable places to buy from...im from the UK so UK sites would be prefered, international sites without stupidly high shipping would be good to.

    all replies greatly appreciated, cheers.

You would be better off changing the motherboard as well, otherwise it will limit what you can upgrade to.

Also, what do you intend to use the computer for?

i was thinking bout a motherboard change...currently an Intel Brookdale i845, if that helps suggest a better board?

will be used for a lot of internet use, games now and then, lots of music recording and lots of music/video downloading, iTunes, Napster, torrents etc....

First, find out exactly what your current motherboard supports.

You may be able to get away with it. Won't hurt to check anyway.

If you aren't sure, post the exact model.

Forget it, it's an OEM motherboard and it only takes SD RAM.

An AMD motherboard, with an nForce 4 chipset, along with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU or better would be great.

Coupled with 1GB or more of DDR RAM and you will have a great system.

You'll also need a video card, unless you want to use onboard video?

For motherboard, I would suggest an ASUS A8N-VM CSM.

CPU, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ or better.

Hard drive, Maxtor DiamondMax 10 with 16MB cache.

RAM, 1 GB or more of DDR.

Video Card, an nVidia 6600GT, or an ATI X800 GTO or better.

(BTW, save an Everest log, then attach that rather than a screenshot)
