program to scan exe files to determine if they generate spyware

Is there any program that can scan an exe file and determine if it can or will generate any kind of spyware?

Mom downloaded this one file last night that trashed her computer, but downloading it on this computer and scanning it with ms antispyware and avg, nothing is shown as malicious. The only thing that seems like it could be malicious is all the registry editting it does that shows up in its hex dump.

 

I added the directory that has the file. Now how do I get it to scan that directory specifically?

 

Nonono, I already had the directory added, I just wanted to know how to get spybot to scan just that directory for the spyware installer.

That's what she said she had opened and then her computer went to hell. I'm having spybot scan right now to see if it picks that up as something or not, although I'm not entirely sure that's what screwed with her computer.

 

I wonder why AVG isn't picking it up...
