Programs won't open and can't restart

Hi all,

I've been having a weird problem with my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1). Programs like Spybot, Malwarebytes, MusicBee and a couple others won't run.

Task manager shows the mbam process is running, but the user-interface is not coming up.

I also can't restart without using the reset button. Otherwise it just gets frozen at the "logging off" screen.

I don't have these problems in Safe Mode.

I have run spybot, malwarebytes, CCleaner and some other stuff that is prescribed in the Malware section of the forum (all done in Safe Mode). The logs were reviewed and didn't show any problems.

Any help will be appreciated.

The restore point did the trick. Seems incredibly obvious now. I really shoulda known that...anyway, thanks for the advice, DOA!
