PS3 - COD4 Can't play multiplayer

So I can't play multiplayer on COD4 on my PS3..... It was working fine yesterday morning, then i took a break, then went back later to play online. But it just sat there saying "Downloading Game Settings..." and I was never able to join a game. I figured maybe there were server problems or something, who knows. But later I had friends over and we tried split screen but now it freezes when its trying to load the map, it looks like it freezes in the exact same spot no matter which map we try. Can anyone help me?

There is supposedly a fix coming out in a day or two to fix the issues on PS3, I have been having them also, rough to find a game.

 

Well i really freaking hope it comes really soon..... played online for like 2 hours and i wanna play more..... the leveling up is a pretty cool idea.....
