pxe e61 Media Test Fail, check cable

I am stuck

About 7 months ago I was on net, computer froze.

I turned it off and restarted it with no luck.

Tried to load reboot disk it starts but then a message comes up eject!

Thought I would try other things including BIOs changes to reboot, no luck

Other day bought new hard drive fitted, no joy, same problem.

I have tried everything I can think of. I have virtually lived on google and wanadoo search engines trying to find an answer and have tried everything suggested.

Put me out of my misery and help me!!!!

I need sleep, but I refuse to sleep until I have solved this problem.

 

Do you get any error messages when you reboot?

And what do you mean when you say:

?

You loaded floppy disks? Or an installation CD? What operating system are you using?

 

Sorry I realised that I had not given all important info.

My system is Compaq laptop presario 2100

My system runs on Windows XP

The reboot CD starts and asks what language I want, then warns me it will delete all files and restore to factory settings the screen goes black then goes to reload, then stops goes black. A cursor appears and the word "eject!" appears on screen. The CD drive then opens.

I have tried starting it in safe mode, no joy.

I have taken the battery out for 5 minutes and then reattached it. No joy.
