Hi, I was checking out some websites the other day and noticed that I had received an email from one of them. I was wondering how they could have gotten my email address because I didn't give it to them. I have all the latest XP updates. How could they get my email address by just going to the website? thanks

The site most likely did some trick and read your cookies.
Clearing your cookies often should avoid this happening in the future

Yep, most likely a cookie. Cookies have your username like bob@amazon (say you visited Amazon), so with that and other scripts they can find your ISP (IP, OS all kindas of nfo) & maybe just spam and seek an email to bob@ISP.com and see if it hits.
