Question about LCD native resolution

    I've read that LCD's have poor display quality in anything other than their native resolution. But I have also read that it's possible to display a "letterbox" picture that is smaller than the native resolution, and that the image will be displayed in full quality except for the unsightly black bands.

    Is this accurate?
