I am currently using Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Do I still need Service Pack 2 or could I safely delete it? I recently had a problem with downloading an update for it. Even if I cannot delete Service Pack 2, do I still need to download updates for it?

Leave it alone. You always need to install all critical updates. If you need space, try built-in Disk Clean up or any of the cleaners and optimizers here at MGs.

Ok. The update I was having problems with finally updated successfully. I made a few small changes on my computer and they must have helped. Thanks for your advice! :)
