Question about symbols for memory dump analysis

Hi

Could you confirm if my understanding of the symbols for memory dump analysis (using the windows debug tool) is correct.

Once you have downloaded and installed these tools, go to start, all programs, Debugging Tools For Windows, Windbg. Once you open Windbg, you will presented with a blank screen. Click on File, Symbol File Path. Here you will enter the symbols path. Symbols are needed to effectively debug.

The path will be:

SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

Does this mean the computer doing the analysis has to be online eveytime, or does it mean if I was to run it now then it would download every symbol today and store them in c:\symbols, or does it only download the symbols relevant to the particular analysis that I carry out ?

Is it possible to download all the currently available symbols , so it can be used off line ?
