QUick question about IE8 and task manager

I THINK after I installed IE8 that everytime I run IE when I check the task manager i may have 2 or 3 iexplore.exe going at the same time. But if I stop one it will close the only window of IE i have running? Is this something new from Internet Explorer 8? Or is it a bigger problem?

I noticed 3 instances of IE(8) running on this PC last night, I closed IE and all 3 closed.

I just started it again now, 2 instances immediately started. I think it might be to do with 'Protected Mode' and 'Compatibility mode' options preloading.

I'll try to research it later.

I'm running Win7 RC here, I'll test an XP SP3 PC later too.

 

I maybe incorrect and/or wording this wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that IE8 separates each tab into it's own process. That way a tab can crash without crashing other tabs/windows.
