quick time will not upgrade

When I try to check for updates for quick
time I get the following message: A connection with the Quick Time software server could not be established. The computer may be having trouble accessing the internet or the server may be off-line.
It is obvious I have no trouble accessing internet. When I try to find support for quick time I cannot find anything.
Anyone have any thoughts on what could be the problem. I did do a manual install and selected option to correct problems. Did not correct it.

 

What version of Quicktime is installed? Looks like the latest version was May 15, 2012.
What version of Windows are you running?

 

windows is Vista
quick time is 7.7.2 (1680.56)

 

Then you have the latest version as shown here
