I have acquired a late model Alienware laptop. The POST shows hard drive degraded. In the bios it's setup for Raid 1 mirror. There is only one drive. This is how Dell supplied it.
There is an option to convert drive to normal. Would doing this cause data loss and have to reinstall Windows?
    Any help appreciated,

Probably be a better idea to revert it back to normal mode if there is only one drive on computer.

There is really not much of a point of raid any more.Especially if you have an SSD.

I would back up the system be for temping to any thing. If the hard drive it self is degrading all ready it might be a good idea to get another and replace it with out raid on it.

Once the hard drive goes it goes quick with raid.It does not save any data as far as i know.

But some might have a back up like i do.
I have two 1 TB back up external hard drives that all ways backup.Just in case my SSD fails.
