    Hello,

Here is an issue I could use some help.

Laptop details: T510, WinXp SP3, one year old

History prior to BSOD: Laptop suddenly restarted while browsing an unknown site. So malware is suspected.

After BSOD: Able to boot into safe mode. Unable to run SfcScan as non-safe mode leads to immediate BSOD. Disabled virtual memory paging file.

Analyzed the dump, it implies issue with lenovo active protection driver. The dump is attached. Partial log is shown below.

    Please assist.

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 8981524e, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: b8587b14, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: b8587810, Context Record Address

    Thanks for the response.

By just disabling the ThinkVantage Active Protection service, I was able to get past the BSODs.

Enabled SFCScan at boot time, once logged in, had bunch of system errors with the same error code 1000007E (logged in event log as well) but the system did not crash.

Next step is to upgrade the driver and observe the behavior.

Hi my friend , what is your antivirus programme ? You could unable all programmes from Windows start up to ensure that is not programmes conflict the cause of bsod

Start - Run msconfig - startup tab disable all boxes apart from antivirus - push Apply - Ok , windows ask you to restart your machine

    go for it !! :wave

We'll be here, I've dealt with plenty of BSOD's before so maybe I can put in a few cents if you run into anything else.

*Good find falconattack! You get +1 Kudos :p *
