Hi, I'm new...I am having problems with random system reboots and occasional shut downs. The reboot seems to happen when playing online games such as Everquest 2 and EA Land. I have run all of the programs from your READ & RUN ME FIRST PAGE...I will attach the logs.
Also I don't know if I ran the ComboFix.exe correctly as I never got a box that said run ? to input the information from the forum on how to run ComboFix.exe. I clicked said yes and it ran. Somewhere along the way I lost my Foxfire browser and am back to IE browser. Not sure why.:confused

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Let me start by saying that "system reboots and occasional shut downs" are rarely due to malware.

Please read the instructions again carefully. You are the one that opens up the Run box by clicking Start, Run and your computer. This is not part of the ComboFix program itself. It is just how you are going to run ComboFix.

You need to attach the below logs:
    • SUPERAnti-Spyware
    • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    • ComboFix

ok Here are the Mbam & Slog...Now ComboFix, I followed the directions...correctly this time, I don't know if I'm just being impatient or if it's actually not working. A screen pops up and says 'Please wait' 'Combofix is preparing to run' I don't know how long it should take to prepare to run but it sat like that for 30 mins seemingly doing nothing. If it really takes that long just to prepare, I'll have to run it while I"m at work and sent that log tomorrowrolleyes

Ok so I left ComboFix.exe running while I went off to work, I got home and it was in the same place as when I'd left, approximately 10 hours later. I had to turn off my computer and restart it. Any ideas. Also I know that it's probably not malware etc. but I posted 1st in the games section and they said come do the run this 1st :) so here I am.
Thanks for all your help...and patience!!

Nothing that you have posted thus far shows any malware reasons for your problems. I suggest you run the below scan for rootkits and attach the log:

    Using Sophos Anti-Rootkit

If this does not show anything, I suggest you post in the Software Forum where someone can look at your EventViewer logs to see if they can determine the reason for reboots.

Correct!! No problems there either. You need to post in the Software Forum.

    You're welcome.

Is is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    2. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    3. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    4. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
