Read error: Connection reset by peer

Hello all,

I have a friend who when ever he goes into chat, (using mirc or icechat) he gets kicked by this error 'Read error: Connection reset by peer' or one that says "connection aborted by software' or somthing like that. anyone know how to fix it?

 

What OS (98, me, 2k, xp, vista?), is there a firewall, what about a proxy?

he also said it kicks him when he loads IE?

 

No firewall? What about a router?

 

no firewall (he doesn't think) no router. just a couple of days ago all was good, now he gets kicked all the time.

 

Out of curiosity, does this happen with a different server?

 

Im not sure, we have a personal server run by one of our friends, so we never have a need to use a run it on a different server.
