Realtec AC`97 audio critical update.

Hi,after manually checking for endless updates from microsoft------it states my REALTEC AC`97 audio needs a critical update(8.7 mb).
If anyone reading this has installed this update----what improvements,if any,were made?
We don`t like to install any microsoft updates unless they are absolutely necessary.Since our audio is fine now as is,we don`t see any reason to install it.

I just downloaded all the critical updates from MicroSoft for this computer, and the RealTek Audio 97 driver wasn't on the list. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", and have a Happy New Year!

 

Of course, Windows Update wouldn't offer you an updated driver for REALTEC AC`97 audio if your system doesn't have that particular device. Conventional wisdom does say to be leary of hardware driver updates thru MS, though.

 

I just did a manual scan with MicroSoft, and the Realtec Audio 97 did show up, but not as a critical update. I went ahead and installed it, and it didn't break anything.
