Is there any way to record an HDMI signal coming from my PS3 (aka recording gameplay) if it's plugged in one of my HD5870's HDMI ports?

Not that i am aware of, that GPU does not have an input signal of any form.

Maybe worth buying a dvd recorder?

Hmm that's too bad... then, is it possible to turn your 16:9 computer display back in 4:3? Like, having black bars on both sides of your screen.

There should be an option in the menu's using the buttons on your monitor, on mine, there is a button which switched to 4:3.
