Is there anyway to recover deleted items from your Outlook 2007 deleted items and / or mail folders? Sure hope so.

    Plenty of Apps here http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads38.html

But a word of caution. Each time you run a recovery program *unsuccessfully* you end up reducing you're chances to recover!! With all due respects to the members here, I would await Halo's response. Cheers...

Thanks, I'll wait and see what Halo has to say before I get myself to far into it.

It depends on how you have deleted them...soft or hard delete. Microsoft has a very easy way to see the emails that it can recover from the depths of your email. Here's something you can try with no risk while waiting for Halo's response ;)

Make sure you have Outlook 2007 open. On the main menu click “Tools” and click the “Recover Deleted Items” option. [IMG]
The Recovery window will open and display all emails that can be recovered. Click on the email(s) that you want to recover and click the “Recover Selected Items” button (it’s the second button in the top menu).

All emails that you have selected will be put back in the original folder that you deleted them from. So if you deleted the item straight from your Inbox, the email will be put back in your Inbox.

    Hi

Thanks guys but you give me more credit than I deserve for Office apps, I do know them well but not main area of expertise, but this I had come across before, if you are on a network and its Exchange one then recovering (if he admin has enabled it) deleted files is not too hard as Outlook has this built in http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101835681033.aspx?pid=CH100776981033

Which Windows version, if Vista then you have an option called Previous Versions, so right click the folder which houses the PST (how to find is mentioned below) then choose Properties > Previous versions and choose a date from before emails where likely deleted, then double click the folder and right click copy the Outlook PST, then paste onto desktop for now and rename to outlookold then paste it into the Outlook main folder which is likely C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook open outlook up and click Tools > Account Settings > Data Files and click Add, then choose top option and click OK, then highlight the outlookold file and click apply if offered and then OK, you should now see a new listing in OL2007s right menu, hopefully with emails that where deleted.

Other methods are a mix of these BUT before doing this do backup your current .pst to locate this click in Outlook Tools > Account Settings > Data files then highlight your Personal Folder and click Open Folder then copy the .pst to another folder as a backup.
Also while in the pst location look for a pst called Backup and hover your mouse over it as if you have done backups you may find that this one is old enough to actually have copies of your deleted emails in it.

http://bhandler.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!1pt1v0Q4vD8jSvNS4lqdAuug!391.entry?wa=wsignin1.0 < this method has you corrupt your PST first hence backing up, but the scanpst.exe tool can help recover emails.

Scanpst.exe is likely also found in this location C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 if not in the MAPI folder as many of those guides show.

If you have compacted the mail folders at any point then the emails will not be recoverable.
