    2 questions:

    - where are the registry files located in windows XP? (used to be user.dat and something.dat in windows 98)

    - is there a way to recover my old office 2000 product key from a broken down installation? windows could not be loaded any more at all, so I wasn't able to dive into regedit and look for the key, but I've backed up the entire drive with ghost, so the product key should still be in there somewhere

Got a bit of conflicting info, but check for wpa.dbl, or wpa.dbi. Not sure which is correct. I am on a W98SE, right now. Check out RockXP available from MG.
