Recovering pics. from a digital camera.

I don't think it's possible, being like a USB thumbdrive.
Maybe someone else has an idea on this.
A friend thought they were importing all pics. from their camera to their PC.
Hit delete by mistake and lost them all.
They have asked if it was possible to recover them.
I told them I didn't think so, but they want me to try anyway.
Anybody?

I knew about Recuva, and FreeUnDelete. Knew they worked on HDs, but didn't think they would on this situation.

Many times the maker of higher end memory cards offer a free undelete utility for their cards. You may want to check the manufacturers site. If that doesn't work and it is a higher end card contact the manufacturer, they may have you mail the card to them and they will recover the files, usually for free or very inexpensively.

Before you plug that higher end card into your computer, make sure your ReadyBoost (Microsoft Vista and Win7) is turned off. The higher end cards are fast enough to be used for ReadyBoost. Once the computer loads the ReadyBoost information over the deleted sections it's gone, there is no recovery.

 

Thanks for the warning about Ready Boost, but not a concern.
Job will be on either my XP Home machine or my Linux Mint one.

I know the program, PC Inspector's File Recovery, works well so maybe the program for camera cards, Smart Recovery, will work equally well.
