RedHat 9 question

Asus A7N266-VM
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (not o/c)
Crucial 512 mb PC2100
WD 40g 7200 8 mb
onboard video
onboard sound

When booting to RH 9, it hangs on Finding Module Dependencies. So I found somewhere that it does this if something is plugged into the onboard usb ports. Well, I have a usb keyboard plugged into one of those ports. So I tried plugging it into the secondary ports (the extra ports for my board...set to secondary in the bios) and it continued to hang. So this morning I plugged an extra ps/2 keyboard in and voila, it booted just fine, but my mouse pointer was gone. So my two questions: is there a way to fix my problem w/o getting another keyboard (i guess i need a black ps/2)? Neither Asus nor nVidia has RH 9 nForce drivers, nVidia just has RH 8. My second question: how do I get my mouse pointer back?

I'm a noob to Linux, thats why i'm using it. Thankfully i'm dual booting with XP as well. I'm also looking through the forums at nVnews.net. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
