Removal of Alureon.A with Windows Defender Offline bricked my in-laws pc

    Hello, I've run ito the exact same scenario as described in another post: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=274842.

    Exact same machine and OS: Windows 7 64-bit.

    I've followed the instructions in that post and created the FRST.txt file. Please help, I tried a few other options including all the bootrec.exe options to repair the MBR without succcess.

    Download this >> View attachment fixlist.txt


    Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
    Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
    Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
    The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
    Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

    Now see if you can boot into normal Windows

    Following your directions, I was able to apply the fix and now my wife's parent's computer boots up into windows!
