    Hi,

I am running 64-bit Windows 7. A day ago, Firefox and Internet Explorer began to crash frequently. They would operate for a few moments, then they would either crash directly to the desktop, or an error message would pop up saying that they encountered a problem and need to close. Shortly thereafter, Microsoft Forefront Client Security found a file called Win32/DelfInject.gen!CV I imagine that my problems with the browsers stems from this virus. I completed the Windows 7 Malware removal procedure, but Forefront still detects the virus upon booting. Hitman Pro detected several malware/trojan threats. Attached are the logs requested in the malware removal instructions.

Please recommend the best course of action for me to remove this malware from my system. Thank you for your time and this wonderful resource!

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKCU\[...]\Run : 6oXUUCv4 (C:\ProgramData\BhqOOhEPIheY\LUW6vikLqkdD\CRsZ2Lz31uYuRtT\WGqbqh9rk2n7sSU\kHj8LnB9KJ.exe) -> FOUND

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach[/URL])
Do not reboot your computer yet.

    Rescan with HitmanPro.
Choose to Delete these files if they are detected:

    • C:\ProgramData\2SiYzWeTkhz.cpl
      C:\ProgramData\6JjGTX06.exe
      C:\ProgramData\BhqOOhEPIheY\LUW6vikLqkdD\CRsZ2Lz31uYuRtT\WGqbqh9rk2n7sSU\kHj8LnB9KJ.exe
      C:\ProgramData\k9cJK1J6.cpl
      C:\ProgramData\xr3jn14WfURM.cpl
    Ignore all other detections.
    Afterwards, click the Next button.
HitmanPro may want to reboot the PC in order for the changes to take affect, please do so.

Now re-scan with both RogueKiller and HitmanPro and attach both of those logs as well.

    TimW,

Thank you very much for your help. For the moment, at least, it seems as though the problem has been eliminated. Forefront Security no longer detects a suspicious file upon booting, the internet browsers are stable once again, and my final HitmanPro scan came back clean. I am attaching a RogueKiller log from the deletions you requested (RKreport[2]), then a HitmanPro and RogeueKiller log (RKreport[4]) from after the deletions with HitmanPro.

One final question: I am not sure how familiar you are with this particular bug, but should I be suspicious of any external hard drives/flash drives connected to the PC while it may have been infected?

    Thanks again,
    YHF

Your externals should be fine. If you want, run MBAM on them to be certain.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0
