Hello and welcome to Major Geeks :)

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.

Thank you for your help! Still no joy however. Same as before, which is booting to Windows splash screen, then rebooting. Same for safe mode. Here is the log. Thank you again. :)

Hi, can you tell me which blue screen error you are getting?

    Reboot your PC
Start pressing F8 continuously on boot until you receive the following boot options:

From the list, go down to the one that says : Disable automatic restart on system failure
    Press ENTER

Your system will now attempt to boot, when and if you get a bluescreen, it will stick. Write down any and all technical information for us to review here

    Thanks

I posted a pic of the BSOD, but it needs moderator approval, so here's the ASCII version. ;)

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

    Technical information:

    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A9928, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

Attached is a new fixlist.txt for you to try.
When it is finished, try booting but also attach the files in the folder on your flash drive called "Mini" if any are in there.

OK, still no joy and the mini folder was empty. Would you like for me to try and copy the dump files manually for you? I've attached the latest scan. Thanks again!

Here is another fixlist.txt for you to try.
You don't have to as I don't think Windows is actually recording the BSOD logs.
This issue appears software related at the moment. Does not appear to be caused by malware anymore.

After this fix, I would run a chkdsk c: /r from the Recovery console's command prompt and see if that helps any.

:cry I was really hopeful that time, but still no go. Got the same BSOD as before. The chkdsk ran a long time and indicated some fixes. I've attached yet more logs. ...and as you suggested, it is not dumping BSOD logs.

Have you tried Startup Repair? If not, try this next.

Yes. It says "Startup Repair connot repair this computer automatically." Thank you so much for sticking with this. Formatting isn't a route I want to take with this one if it can be helped.

:-o Nevermind! I'm an idiot! Early on while troubleshooting (prior to posting here) I changed the SATA mode to IDE for troubleshooting and forgot. I just changed it back and am now looking at a desktop! Thank you!

Is there anything else I should do at this point?

    Thanks again, you rock!!!
    :-D

Yep this can cause 0x7b too "Inaccessible boot device" ;)

As part of troubleshooting, I removed startup drivers and services related to AVG and McAfee. Hold off on reinstalling either of these until you read the rest of this message.
    You're welcome.
I would recommend going through this thread even if there are no obvious symptoms of infection: How to Remove Trojan:DOS/Alureon.A

OK, did all of that. We appear to be clean. We're going to remove McAfee and AVG as the user has another solution. Is there anything further I should be concerned with? Thank you again for your awesome help! This is the first time I've ever been really stumped on virus removal, and you came through.

    :)

Here are the cleanup instructions to remove our tools if you have not done so already:

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. You can delete the C:\FRST folder
    8. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis if it present
    9. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    10. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
    Be safe :)
