removing backround from image

    Im after a good and easy program to remove the backround from an image, the image has curves and sharp corners to be removed! any ideas?

    I have used a free program called Paint.net for this.

    Seeing the image would probably help to know how complex it is. As for software I use Paintshop Pro, some use Photoshop (the industry standard), while others use The Gimp.
